I’m Amalia.
I’m 20.
I am an artist and a lover and a lady.
Big time. For all of those.
I was raised by three amazing wolves lesbians on the North side of Chicago.
[When I use amazing, I’m actually using it the way it was originally intended. I throw that word around a lot these days because it’s so immediate. It’s right at the top of the barrel when I want to express that something is good or exciting, but my moms are and were more than that. They’re brilliant, fascinating, dedicated activists and they imparted so much goodness into me. My soul. Growing up with my moms really shaped me. I am infinitely lucky to have been created and cared for by them. ]
I have an ongoing stint with Batman. Actually it’s not a stint. It’s a forever thing. I was first introduced to him when I was 3 or 4, and it really got out of control after that. I’m thoroughly convinced a lot of my tastes are influenced by Batman Forever, which is in the running for the worst Batman film of all time, but is also my favorite film of all time. That is why I’m tacky and why you hate me.
The Batmanism also gave me a thirst for action. So naturally, add on like 10 years, and you have a girl who likes her trespassing and graffiti and that whole thang-a-lang. I like (art) criminals. I like cyphering. I like exploring. I like attacking things. Fucking. What?
I am an enthusiast, a storyteller, and sometimes a liar. Like a lot. But it’s usually to make the moment that I am explaining sound really good. And you want that. I know I want that.
I moved to New York in 2010 to study Fine Art at Parsons the New School for Design. It is a big fucking deal and a thrill ride. I adore learning about my craft and being around so many beautiful people. Parsons has the beautifullest people. Additionally, I think it’s vastly important for an artist to be around designers. They have different minds, they do things in an entirely different way and there is much to be learned from their methods. I’m also learning a great deal about the world of art and how to survive in it. That’s an invaluable lesson right there, fam. You better get on it if you’re bout this art shit too.
You’ll see a lot of photos of people on this blog. Always. Because that’s mostly what I’m about. I am super tolerant. I like you. And everyone. I value what I learn from everyone I meet. My art is generally inspired by the connections between individuals. Impressions. I feel people, if they let me. I want to know what everyone’s about.
I have a great ass and an even better attitude. I am very respectful, aside from the fact that I am rarely punctual. Despite that main flaw, I really care a lot. I am interested in non-profits and community growth and working for that. That’s what I want to do, aside from my own art stuffs. That’s hip hop, b. That is going to be my life.
In the mean time, I try to defy as many expectations as possible each day and I say a lot of buck wild stuff.
I also do personal projects which are mostly collaborations. If you are an artist, writer, photographer, or anything. Literally anything. I am up for making a project with you. Please message me if you are interested.
I am very easy to talk to about other things as well. I like listening. And making friends. So go for it.
